WorldFloodType_Dataset

Water Flood Type (WFT) dataset is introduced in the study From Flood Extent Mapping to Mechanism-Aware Flood Products: Integrating Flood Type Classification into Satellite-Based Flood Monitoring. It was constructed based on the WorldFloods v2 dataset to support both pixel-level flood extent segmentation and scene-level flood type classification. The dataset contains 464 flood scenes from 120 flood events across 48 countries. For each flood scene, the dataset provides Sentinel-2 RGB imagery, flood extent masks, and auxiliary geospatial information used for mechanism-aware flood analysis. The flood scenes are labelled with dominant flood types, including fluvial, pluvial, and coastal floods. The dataset also includes metadata files describing the original data sources, flood event information, and flood type labels. The file dataset_index.xlsx records the scene-level dataset structure and source information, while flood_type_report.xlsx provides the flood type labelling information. This dataset is designed to support research on flood extent mapping, flood type classification, and mechanism-aware flood monitoring.
