资源简介:
This series gives details of the purchase of land for the use of closer and discharged soldier settlement from private vendors. Details given are the date of purchase, the name of the vendor, the estate or applicant (with an annotation if the land was purchased under the provisions of Sections 6 and 11 of the Act) and whether the applicant was a discharged soldier. Further details are of the location and extent of the land, the price per acre, remarks, the date of possession and details of any application for a special advance.Further details of land purchases for closer and soldier settlement are available in VPRS 10644 Register of Land Purchases, Closer Settlement Acts, VPRS 14435 Register of Estate Purchases, Closer Settlement Acts, VPRS 14436 Register of Land Purchased, Discharged Soldiers Settlement Acts and VPRS 14433 Inspector's Report Books, Acquisition of Land, Closer Settlement Acts and Discharged Soldiers Settlement Acts. The closer settlement provisions of Part III of the Land Act 1898 allowed the Board of Land and Works to allocate existing Crown lands for settlement or to purchase lands from private individuals for the purposes of settlement. These provisions continued in the Closer Settlement Act 1904 and subsequent acts and were reinforced and reiterated in the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Acts from 1917. The Acts specified the conditions under which the Closer Settlement Board (previously known as the Lands Purchase and Management Board) might select land and pay for it as well as the conditions required for evaluating the suitability of the land for that purpose, arriving at a valuation of the land and the procedures for any subsequent purchase.
