This dataset primarily documents the direct economic losses of crops caused by natural disasters across all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government of China, with the unit being 100 million Chinese yuan (CNY). The covered natural disasters include droughts, floods, landslides and debris flows, wind and hail disasters, low-temperature freezes and snow disasters, among others. Provinces and municipalities including Shanghai, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Beijing and Zhejiang have the lowest direct economic loss rates of crops resulting from natural disasters, while provinces and autonomous regions such as Gansu, Qinghai, Yunnan, Sichuan and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have the highest corresponding loss rates.
