Reactor performance and microbial community structure of single-stage partial nitritation anammox membrane bioreactors inoculated with Brocadia and Scalindua enrichment cultures

We operated two single-stage PNA processes using a membrane bioreactor (MBR) inoculated with the anammox enrichment culture of Candidatus Brocadia sinica (Brocadia-MBR) or Candidatus Scalindua sp. (Scalindua-MBR) for low-strength ammonia wastewater treatment. The dominant key bacteria, such as AOB, NOB, and anammox bacteria, in the single-stage PNA MBRs were also determined using a MiSeq platform.
