The ability of two lactic acid bacteria strains to inhibit L. monocytogenes in a monoculture and in an environmental microbiome context

We evaluated the ability of two lactic acid bacteria strains to inhibit L. monocytogenes in attached biomass grown with environmental microbiota collected from tree fruit packing facilities (F1, F2, F3). L. monocytogenes and environmental microbiota were co-incubated in polypropylene tubes for 3, 5, or 15 days, with and without the presence of lactic acid bacteria strains PS1155 and PS1156. The composition of the attached biomass was characterized by 16S rRNA V4 region amplicon sequencing.
