Selected Avoidable Mortality rate ratio trend

Avoidable mortality (AM) is a simple and practical population-based method ofcounting untimely and unnecessary deaths from diseases for which effectivepublic health and medical interventions are available. An excess of deaths dueto preventable causes should suggest shortcomings in the healthcare systemthat warrant further attention. Five years of data has been aggregated for allanalyses to reduce year-to-year variability in deaths, and the width ofconfidence intervals for areas with small populations. Data are presented bycalendar year (1 Jan to 31 Dec), consistent with the release of mortality databy the Australian Bureau of Statistics.可避免死亡（Avoidable Mortality, AM）是一种简便实用的基于人群的统计方法，用于统计可通过有效公共卫生与医疗干预手段预防的疾病所引发的过早、非必要死亡案例。当此类可预防病因导致的死亡人数超出合理水平时，往往提示医疗体系存在亟待关注的缺陷与不足。为降低年度死亡数据的波动幅度，并缩窄人口稀少区域的置信区间宽度，所有分析均采用五年汇总后的数据集。数据按日历年（1月1日至12月31日）进行呈现，这与澳大利亚统计局（Australian Bureau of Statistics, ABS）发布死亡统计数据的周期保持一致。
