China is the world’s third-largest sugarcane producer. However, there are no long-term sugarcane maps in China over the past twenty years. This dataset provides 30 m spatial resolution sugarcane plantation maps in China (Guangxi, Yunnan, Guangdong, and Hainan) from 2001 to 2024. This dataset was produced by incorporating a phenology-based method and the interannual variations of sugarcane plantation dynamics using a high spatiotemporal resolution (30 m; 16 day) fused dataset (Li et al., 2024). The phenology-based method was developed from a time-weighted dynamic time warping method (TWDTW) and performed well for sugarcane in China and Brazil (Zheng et al., 2022a; Zheng et al., 2022b). Validations against field sample data and agricultural statistical data demonstrated the maps were in high accuracy.The dataset is provided in geotif (*.tif) format with pixel values of 1 for sugarcane and 0 for non-sugarcane.
