We explored whether LOY could be detected in rats. We applied a loci-specific PCR and target sequencing approach that we used as a proxy for LOY to examine 339 samples from eleven tissues from young (3 months) and old (22-25 months) individuals. We also re-sequenced 60 full genomes from old rats that showed increased LOY frequency.
