Long-term monitoring of incidental natural history information about Fox dens on Akimiski Island, Nunavut

We have monitored Canada goose and snow goose reproductive success since 1993 and Semipalmated Plover success since 2002. Red and Arctic foxes are one of the primary egg predators. Understanding how many and where the foxes are located contributes to estimation of predation pressure and its varying influence on goose and shorebird success. This project also wanted to determine if there are trends in the abundance and distribution of fox on Akimiski Island in Nunavut.本研究自1993年起监测加拿大黑雁（Canada goose）与雪雁（snow goose）的繁殖成功率，自2002年起开展半蹼鸻（Semipalmated Plover）的繁殖成功率监测。赤狐（red fox）与北极狐（Arctic fox）是该区域主要的卵捕食者之一。明确狐狸的种群数量与空间分布，可为捕食压力评估及其对雁类和滨鸟（shorebird）繁殖成功率的差异化影响提供支撑。本项目同时旨在探究努纳武特（Nunavut）阿基米斯基岛（Akimiski Island）上狐狸的种群丰度与分布是否存在变化趋势。
