Guide to the implementation of BAT conclusions intensive animal husbandry

Installations for intensive farming or rearing of poultry or pigs are subject to the Industrial Emissions Directive from a certain number of places. Thus, so-called BAT conclusions are to be used as a reference document for permit conditions for such installations. They describe the best available techniques (BAT). The guide supports plant operators and the competent authorities in applying the BAT conclusions in intensive animal husbandry. Calculation methods are proposed for the monitoring of ammonia, dust, total excreted nitrogen and phosphorus. The BAT conclusions apply immediately to new installations and existing installations must comply with them by 21.2.2021 at the latest.
