This dataset provides the Python code and instructions needed to visualize structural regime shifts in the Polity2 democracy scores for the United States between 1900 and 2020. The code focuses on detecting two major regime breaks in U.S. democracy:- The Watergate scandal (~1974)- The Trump era (~2015–2016) The upload contains:- **Google Collab Code.docx**: A Word document containing ready-to-run Python code.- **README.txt**: Instructions for running the code using Google Colab.- **p5v2018.xls**: The Polity5 dataset (needed to generate the democracy trend plots). ## Usage Instructions1. Open the `Google Collab Code.docx` file.2. Copy and paste the Python code into a new Google Colab notebook.3. Upload the `p5v2018.xls` file into your Google Colab session.4. Run all code cells.
