Precambrian Canadian Shield Groundwater and Gas Geochemistry (PCSG3) Database

The Precambrian Canadian Shield Groundwater and Gas Geochemistry (PCSG3) database contains data for 3,639 samples gathered from 132 published and unpublished sources, integrating peer-reviewed articles published in journals and conference proceedings, governmental and environmental consulting reports, environmental impact statements and supporting documentation, publicly accessible databases, university research studies including B.Sc. projects, M.Sc. theses, and Ph.D. dissertations, and previously unpublished datasets. Samples in the PCSG3 database were collected at sites across the Canadian Shield at depths up to 2,900 m below ground surface, and from a variety of different crystalline rock types. Much of the data compiled are from studies undertaken at individual plutons/batholiths, underground mines or exploration sites hosted in greenstone belts or metasediments, as well as systematic sampling and characterization of drinking water aquifers.
