EPILEPSY COMPLICATED BY STROKE

Stroke is an acute circulatory disorder of the central nervous system, which is accompanied by many neurological complications. One of the most important of these is post-stroke epilepsy. This condition develops as a result of structural and functional changes that occur in brain tissue after a stroke. Epileptic seizures can be observed in the early (within the first 7 days) and late (after 7 days) periods of stroke. The main risk factors for the development of post-stroke epilepsy are hemorrhagic stroke, cortical damage, large focal infarction, and elderly patients. This article analyzes the pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnostic methods, and modern treatment approaches to post-stroke epilepsy. It also highlights the importance of preventive measures and a comprehensive approach aimed at improving the quality of life of patients
