Zurich Facades 2025

This release introduces the Zurich Facades Dataset, a curated collection of 11,273 street-level facade images representing the building stock of the greater Zurich area, Switzerland. The dataset consists of systematically retrieved street-level imagery enriched with detailed building-level attributes, including construction year, period and primary building function. These attributes are derived from official open government data published by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office, enabling reliable linkage between visual facade characteristics and structured building metadata. This work builds upon the following available resources: The open building registry data (Eidgenössisches Gebäude- und Wohnungsregister (GWR)) published by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) The Zurich Blockmodel (Source: City of Zurich) containing 3D models of the building stock The Google Street View Static API for street-level image acquisition This release includes the full set of image request parameters generated by the authors. These parameters allow researchers to reconstruct the dataset using their own Google API credentials. The data aims to support research in sustainable architecture, urban building energy modelling and building technology, and is intended for academic and educational use. Note: Future versions will include the automated image acquisition and filtering pipelines used to generate the request parameters, enabling full methodological transparency and reproducibility.
