Arthonia radiata strain:EZ20314 Genome sequencing and assembly

Here we report the draft de novo genome of Arthonia radiata (Pers.) Ach. This lichen-forming fungus is the type species of Arthonia (Ach.) Ach., on which Arthoniaceae Rchb. is based. Arthoniaceae is a large family of about 800 lichen forming, lichenicolous (a parasitic fungus living on lichen) and saprobic Ascomycota in the order Arthoniales, Arthoniomycetidae. Arthonia radiata is a common and polymorphic epiphyte that lives on mainly smooth-barked, deciduous trees throughout the Holarctic. It is has also been found in Africa and New Zealand (Coppins & Aptroot 2009). Most recently, it has played a key role in efforts to develop new classification for Arthoniales based on phylogenetic principles (Ertz et al.2014, 2015; Frisch et al. 2014).
