Interest in Aronia fruit has increased because of their high levels of antioxidants and polyphenols and wide adaptability to various geographic regions with few disease and pest issues. This study investigated the transcriptome of Aronia fruit development to understand the molecular mechanisms involved with Aronia fruit anthocyanin biosynthesis. Six accessions of A. melanocarpa (diploid) fruit were collected at four developmental stages and samples were prepared for RNA-sequencing and fruit chemical analysis using HPLC.
