A monoclonal antibody previously shown to be specific for the epitopic region did not significantly neutralize the toxin at doses of 20 LD50 (10 to 20% survival rate). Administration of the antibody as pairs or triplets with additional mAbs recognizing light and heavy chain domains of BoNT/A1 resulted in enhanced neutralization capacity, suggesting a synergistic effect. SImilar effects were seen with the neutralization of type A2 toxin.
