The social organization of Oecophylla smaragdina (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) colonies and their functional activity

The dataset and analyses conducted provided valuable findings on the existence of five workers distinct sub-caste in the Asian weaver ant colonies sampled in oil palm plantations and Calamansi lemon trees in Malaysia. This does contrast with the classical bimodal worker distribution as major and minor only. We have polymorphic workers presenting a definite multimodal distribution. The major big worker MBW, the major intermediate worker, MIW, the intermediate worker 3 IM3, the intermediate worker 2 IM2 and minor worker MW.本数据集及所开展的相关分析得出了极具价值的研究结果：在马来西亚油棕种植园与卡曼橘（Calamansi）柠檬树上采集的亚洲织叶蚁蚁群中，存在5个独立的工蚁亚品级。 这与仅包含大型、小型两类工蚁的经典双峰分布模式形成鲜明反差。本研究中的工蚁具有多型性，且呈现出明确的多峰分布特征，具体可分为大型工蚁（MBW, Major Big Worker）、大型中间型工蚁（MIW, Major Intermediate Worker）、中间型工蚁3（IM3, Intermediate Worker 3）、中间型工蚁2（IM2, Intermediate Worker 2）以及小型工蚁（MW, Minor Worker）。
