Microbial community structure of Agati Island using culture independent as well as culture dependent approaches.Public description (The project was designed to understand the microbial communities and their role in the continental shelf of the Agatti island at different depths upto 40m using recent technologies like metagenomics and genome sequencing. Domibacillus indicus is a novel bacterium isolated from 5m depth marine sediment of Agatti Island, Lakshadweep, India. Genome sequencing of Domibacillus indicus was done using Pacific Biosciences SMRT technology in order to understand molecular machinery and metabolic pathways which are responsible for the survival in the nutrient deprived conditions.
