This dataset was developed by the Geo Data Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, offering multi-scale dynamic population mobility data for the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a start date of March 1, 2020. It calculates and aggregates daily and weekly origin-destination (O-D) population flows by analyzing the visited locations of millions of anonymous mobile phone users, covering three geographic scales: census tracts, counties, and states. Featuring high spatiotemporal resolution, this dataset aids in monitoring the dynamics of pandemic spread, supports public health policy formulation, and deepens our understanding of shifts in human behavior during public health crises. Additionally, this dataset can also be applied to other social sensing and transportation-related applications.
