Rates of 14C hydrocarbon oxidation by microbial communities, LTMOSE, a Long Term Marine Oil Snow Experiment, oxidation rate measurements, a mesocosm experiment

A mesocosom scale experiment was conducted to monitor the temporal changes in microbial hydrocarbon oxidation rates in response to the presence of oil and chemically dispersed oil. Water samples were incubated with 14°C labeled hexadecane and naphthalene and the amount of liberated 14°C labeled carbon dioxide will be measured as a proxy for hydrocarbon oxidation.本研究开展了中型实验生态系统（mesocosm）规模的实验，旨在监测石油及化学分散石油存在条件下微生物烃类氧化速率的时间动态变化。将水样与碳14（14C）标记的十六烷及萘共培养，并以释放的碳14标记二氧化碳的量作为烃类氧化的替代检测指标。
