Returning from a conference on yellow fever in Cape Town in November 1932, he passed through the Belgian Congo (now Zaire) to talk with officials there about yellow fever surveys. He then spent several days visiting staff at the RF yellow fever laboratory in Nigeria. The caption on the back of the photograph reads, "Jan. 20, 1933. Lagos, Nigeria.
