Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder, and its global incidence has been on a continuous upward trend. Like other chronic non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus is a multifactorial disorder, with risk factors spanning genetics, social factors, lifestyle, environmental factors and other domains. The cornerstone of diabetes prevention and control is the adoption of comprehensive preventive and therapeutic measures, while assessing the disease burden and managing its risk factors constitutes an important prerequisite for effective diabetes management. Therefore, obtaining data on diabetes prevalence and mortality, and elucidating the distribution and underlying patterns of its risk factors, can provide evidence-based decision support for interventions aimed at preventing and delaying the progression of diabetes, as well as improving the quality of life of patients with diabetes.
