资源简介:
Turtles are divided into two groups, cryptodires and pleurodires, according to how they retract their neck into their shells. Monophyly of Cryptodira and Pleurodira is strongly supported by the phylogenetic analyses of turtles based on morphological and molecular data. The molecular dating suggests that this two groups separate from each other in Early Jurassic. However, the interrelationships of the turtles are ambiguous, especially the Cryptodira, which mainly result from the inadequacy knowledge of their morphology. Therefore, the morphological research of both the fossil and extant turtles are important for understanding the genealogical relationships and evolution of turtles. This paper provides a dataset of the µCT of Indotestudo elongata, including original CT slice images, 3D printable stl files, animated videos. Indotestudo elongata is identified as a member of Testudinidae, which is a group of Cryptodira. Data for the skull of Indotestudo elongata based on µCT scan will contribute to further studies of turtles regarding their morphology and phylogeny. Three-dimensional virtual models of the skull of Indotestudo elongata can be 3D printed, with broad applications in research, teaching, and public education.
