The series consists of registers recording admission and discharge details of children at May Villa home. The registers have a double page format arranged by month, with one page recording admissions to the home, and the facing page recording discharges. These are arranged in chronological order.The top of the left hand corner of the page has the heading 'month ending'. Details recorded for inward admissions include date of admission, name, date of birth year and month, religion, from whom received, address and remarks. The discharge details record date of discharge, to whom discharged, address, how placed and remarks.At the end of each month there is a summary of the number of admissions and discharges.
