Family Food Expenditure Survey, 1984 [Canada]: Summary Household File

This survey provides estimates of food expenditures and quantities purchased by households. Throughout the year members of selected households were asked to record expenditures on food and beverages for a period of 2 weeks. Topics include: composition of households; characteristics of reference person, spouse and dwelling; food and beverages while away from home; personal income in the last 12 months; food and beverages purchased from stores by type of store; and food and beverages from restaurants by type of restaurant. There are two files to this survey; the Detailed Expenditure File and the Summary Household File. The household file provides summary level food category information at a weekly level (either week one or week two or both if available) and also socio-economic characteristics of the household. The food expenditures are presented by specific food item purchased from stores, locally and on day trips. Records may be linked using the variable \"identification number\".
