Morris_Exploring Emotional Exhaustion

Despite being associated with annual expenses of more than $300 billion, knowledge gaps in workplace burnout remain. Many current burnout studies have excluded minorities and solely explored job performance and demands in human service industries. Similarly, relevant psychological workplace factors that have been associated with detrimental mental and physical conditions of minorities such as emotional dissonance and exclusion have been significantly limited.A cross-sectional questionnaire was administered to 146 participants (72 = Caucasian American, 74 = African-American) to explore emotional exhaustion, workload, surface acting and work group strength among African-American and Caucasian managers in white-collar roles.
