Data for "An inversion of magnetic field measurements to constrain the depth, thickness, and conductivity of Europa's ocean" by Winkenstern et al. (2025)

This dataset contains the simulation output used in our inversion of Galileo magnetic field measurements to quantitatively characterize and constrain the depth, thickness, and electrical conductivity of Europa's subsurface ocean. The method developed in this study was applied to the E04 and E14 flyby, assuming a radially symmetric O2 atmosphere. Simulations with column densities ranging from 1e14 to 4e14 cm^-2 are provided in this dataset for both flybys. For the E14 flyby, additional simulations were performed under consideration of an asymmetric atmosphere, motivated by variabilities in column density due to upstream-downstream-asymmetries, as well as day-night-asymmetries.
