The late Paleocene planktic foraminifer Igorina albeari changed dominant coiling direction from dextral to sinistral at the base of Zone P4 (~59.2 Ma) in several central Pacific sites (DSDP Site 465, Hess Rise; ODP Site 1209, Shatsky Rise; ODP Site 865, Allison Guyot), but its populations remained dominated by the dextral morph at mid latitude ODP Site 762 (Exmouth Plateau, Indian Ocean). Carbon and oxygen isotope values for sinistral and dextral coiling morphs are similar, and there is no clear correlation between coiling reversals and stable isotope events.
