A magnetic resonance imaging technique, diffusion basis spectrum imaging (DBSI), offers non-invasive insights into cervical structure by imaging cellularity, collagen, and muscle fibers. Validated through both ex vivo and in vivo analyses, DBSI reveals significant microstructural differences between term and preterm deliveries, correlating closely with timing of delivery.
