Calibrated CTD cast and bottle data from the eastern and central Agulhas Bank (South Africa) collected as part of SOLSTICE-WIO cruise EK188 in March 2019.

A calibrated dataset of 56 CTD casts and bottle data collected on the eastern and central Agulhas Bank, South Africa in March 2019 is presented here. These data were collected as part of the GCRF funded SOLSTICE-WIO project, which aims to investigate ecosystem responses to climate change. During the South African field campaign, EK188 (RS Ellen Kuzwayo), 11 transects and 2 glider calibration casts were completed. A SeaBird 911+ was mounted onto a stainless-steel frame with 12 x 8 l Niskin bottles. Additional sensors on the CTD package measured concentrations of dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll-a fluorescence, backscatter, transmission, attenuation and irradiance. Conductivity/salinity, chlorophyll-a fluorescence and dissolved oxygen have been calibrated against in-situ observations. Data were processed using Seabird software (Seasave Version 7.26.7) and NOC bespoke Matlab processing scripts.
