Prognostic modelling of epilepsy surgery outcomes using multimodal neuroimaging and machine learning

Surgery is the best treatment for well selected patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy, as it offers the best chance of seizure freedom. However, despite advances in patient selection and diagnostic investigations, only 64% patients become seizure free following surgery. This PhD explores the use of neuroimaging and machine learning to predict which patients will become seizure free following epilepsy surgery, and includes the development and validation of the largest, international multi-centre, deep learning study of epilepsy surgery outcome prediction to use 3D volumetric brain imaging as the primary input.
