Aquifer ecology and hydrochemistry of Wellington hydrological research station, Australia (2014)

Microbiological, hydrogeological and hydrochemical data from single-sampling of groundwater bores (n = 47) and the Macquarie River (n = 1) at the Wellington Research Station, New South Wales, Australia. Samples collected over approximately three weeks in October 2014 as part of my PhD research on aquifer microbial ecology. The purpose of the dataset was to thoroughly characterise the environment and microbial biodiversity and provide a rich dataset for testing a range of ecological hypotheses.

Data include: bore construction, location and geology; sampling and sample processing records; microbial (Archaea, Bacteria, Fungi and all Eukarya) OTU abundance by TRFLP fingerprinting; water elemental composition; concentrations of various anions; liquid chromatography of organic carbon/nitrogen species; alkalinity; conductivity/salinity; pH; dissolved oxygen; temperature; inorganic nitrogen ions; site and sample photos; and data processing information.
