A copious Commentary on the Hamzîyah, by Shihâb al-dîn AḤMAD B. ḤAJAR HAITHAMÎ Makkî (d. A.H. 973).
It is entitled المنح المكّية , and also افضل القرى لقرّاء امّ القرى . It was composed A.H. 966. Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iv. 557.
Prefixed to it is a long preface (foll. 1-6), which begins: الحمد لله الذى اختصّ نبيّنا محمد صلعم بكتاب اخرس الفصحاء و اعجز البلغاء.
The date of the author runs as follows (fol. 239): وقع الفراغ منه قرب نصف ليلة الجمعة ثانى جمادى الاولى سنة ست و ستين و تسعمائة.
Well written. Dated Monday, the last of Jumâda I., 991. Various marginal notes in the earlier portion. On foll. 340 and 341 are added an extract from the تفصيل النشأتين (of RÂGHIB IṢFAHÂNÎ),2 inscribed فى بيان الشجرة النبوية و فضلها على سائر جوهرة البريّة , and some notes (فائدة) .
