B6 and PKR−/− mice were infected i.p. with 10 tissue cysts of the ME49 strain of T. gondii. Mice were euthanized at different times post-infection. Genomic DNA was isolated from various organs and levels of the B1 gene of T. gondii were examined by quantitative PCR. A standard curve of DNA from known numbers of parasites per reaction was used to calculate the number of parasites per µg of genomic DNA isolated from organs. Results are shown as the mean ± SEM and are representative of 3 independent experiments (4–5 mice per group).*p#p
