ICECHIP Hailpixel surveys

This repository contains two surveys:

The 23-05-2025 survey was captured during IOP3 of ICECHIP at Akron, CO softball fields along E 5th Street. 82 photos were captured over the softball field during flying manually due to the strong 50-60 km winds at the time. A ground tile was placed as a ground reference. Hailstones appeared very well preserved on the on the grass surface within almost no other objects present. Capture took place approximately 30 minutes after hail fall. GSD (from reference tile): 1.764mm/px. Captured with a DJI mini 2 from approximatelly 5m altitude.

The 25-05-2025 survey was captured during IOP4 of ICECHIP at Patton Springs High School, Texas. One thing to consider is that NIU RED and KIT manually collected the largest stones (10-14cm) in the area of the survey so they might not be fully represented. Captured within 30 minutes of hail fall. GSD (from orthomosaic creation): 1.537mm/px. Captured with a DJI mini 4 pro from approximately 5m altitude.
