Wharton State Forest Visiting Vehicle Use Roads

The Visiting Vehicle Use Map road data can be used by the public to safely navigate the defined network of roads within Wharton State Forest. These roads often traverse sandy and frequently unimproved conditions. Visitors are encouraged to approach roads with caution despite what is designated as open. Roads may be closed based on current on the ground conditions in the forest. Adhere to signage and check with the State Park Service for conditions or closures. All motorized vehicles operating on unimproved roads must be street legal, registered, insured and operated by a licensed driver. Vehicles and operators are subject to the motor vehicle laws of the State of New Jersey, N.J.S.A. 39:1-1, et seq. Hunters have access to an additional 28.3 miles. Hunters must be actively participating in hunting activities and possess a valid New Jersey hunting license along with appropriate seasonal hunting permits.
