资源简介:
These data are from the OPTIONS pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) provider knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) survey conducted in South Africa in 2017-2018. This was a mixed methods study, but only quantitative data are available for public use. A quantitative survey was conducted with doctors, nurses, counselors, peer educators, pharmacists, community healthcare workers (CHWs), and program managers, who were involved in the provision of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV testing services but who had not yet been trained in PrEP delivery and had no experience delivering PrEP services. Interviews occurred in 9 public health facilities (3 rural, 3 peri-urban and 3 urban) that were purposively selected from districts prioritized by the SHE campaign. Within selected facilities, providers were selected purposively, by selecting up to 3 who were available for an interview during the period of data collection. The study goal was to explore healthcare providers’ views regarding the PrEP implementation and the provision of oral PrEP to adolescent girls & young women (AGYW) and other key populations. The study was designed to meet the following objectives: 1. Evaluate providers’ knowledge of PrEP: effectiveness, safety, eligibility criteria, screening and follow-up requirements 2. Explore providers’ attitudes and beliefs about PrEP and delivering PrEP that could affect their delivery of PrEP to AGYW and other key populations 3. Explore providers’ views on whether it would be feasible and acceptable to add PrEP delivery to HIV and reproductive health services, based on their experiences delivering those services. Survey questions include the following domains: demographic characteristics, job characteristics, knowledge about PrEP, perceptions of providing PrEP different populations, and perceptions on providing PrEP to adolescent girls and young women.
