Photographs of marine phytoplankton exposed to crude oil and dispersants in mesocosm tanks after 72h

Phytoplankton community composition can change in response to environmental variables, which in turn has effects on marine food webs and biogeochemical cycles. A mesocosm experiment was carried out to assess the effects of crude oil and dispersants on phytoplankton assemblages from the Gulf of Mexico. Photographs were taken in order to characterize how the microbial community changed after 72h of exposure.浮游植物（Phytoplankton）群落组成可随环境变量发生改变，而这一变化反过来会对海洋食物网与生物地球化学循环产生影响。本研究开展了一项中宇宙实验（mesocosm experiment），旨在评估原油与分散剂对墨西哥湾浮游植物群落的影响。实验过程中拍摄了显微照片，以表征暴露72小时后微生物群落的变化特征。
