Zebrafish heart regeneration. Danio rerio

The main aim of this project was to evaluate by -omics approaches the molecular drivers of zebrafish heart regeneration. The results obtained with RNA-sequencing evidenced a metabolic shift from oxphos to glycolysis as an important step required for heart regeneration capability in zebrafish. This metabolic shift was also confirmed by nano-LC MS/MS on proteins and by targeted in situ single cell analysis. Moreover, important changes in membrane glycan moieties were identified using LC-ESI-MS/MS analysis.
