This dataset was collected based on transect technique to observe the abundance of Aster prenathoides(Late purple aster) in grasslands near York University, in Toronto. Sample number of 20 Purple Asters was collected using straight line 20 metre transect measuring tape, counting and observing the plants from 0 to 20 metres, as well as their Distance on transect in metres, height of the plant in centimetres, number of leaves on the plant, number of flowers, and level of crowdness in the scale of 0 being open, to 3 which states very crowded bunch of plants within 50 centimetres.本数据集采用样带法（transect technique）采集，旨在观测加拿大多伦多约克大学周边草原内晚紫菀（Aster prenathoides，Late purple aster）的种群丰度。本次采样使用20米直线样带卷尺完成，共获取20株紫菀样本，在0至20米的样带区间内开展植株计数与观测，记录指标包括：植株在样带上的位置距离（单位：米）、植株株高（单位：厘米）、单株叶片数量、单株花朵数量，以及拥挤度评分尺度：0代表生境开阔无遮挡，3代表50厘米范围内植株簇生极为密集。
