Consumer prices; contribution and impact, HICP 2015=100

This table contains figures on the annual change in spending categories of the Harmonised Consumer Price Index (HICP). Of each category, you can also find out how many consumers in the Netherlands spend on it in proportion to their total expenditure. This is called the weighting coefficient. In addition, the table shows the contribution and impact of HICP spending categories. The contributions of the individual categories add up to the total annual HICP change and reflect the share of the price increase in the HICP annual change. The impact, on the other hand, gives an answer to the question of how much higher or lower the annual HICP change would be if a given category were not used to measure the annual HICP change. These figures can be viewed over 139 product groups. Furthermore, there are 34 aggregations of product groups (special aggregates) in the table. Data available from: January 2016. Status of the figures: The HICP results in this table are in most cases immediately final upon publication. HICP outcomes are characterised as preliminary only if it is already known at the time of publication that data are still incomplete, a revision is expected in a later month, or in special circumstances such as the coronavirus crisis. In most cases, all price information requested at CBS is known when the results are published and no adjustment will be made later. However, sometimes certain price information is not available in time and the outcome can be adjusted later. HICP outcomes can then always be revised at the same time as the CPI results, even if they were not published as provisional in the previous month. CPI results are marked as provisional at first publication of the indices, the month on which the figures are final. Changes compared to the previous version: Data for a new period have been added and/or updated. Amendments as of 9 June 2022: The unit of contribution to the annual change and the impact on the annual change has been adjusted to ‘percentage point’. Previously, the table incorrectly stated ‘%’ as a unit. When will there be new figures? The new figures are usually published between the first and second Thursday of the month following the month under review. All publication times of the CPI and HICP are published on the publication schedule.
