Insect Density Versus Plant Density

The data presented is a dataset of insect density per meter squared versus the plant density of the area both were collected in. One meter squared quadrats were randomly placed 30 time each in both a grassland and in a mowed lot. Insect abundance was determined by thorough observation of the area in question, plant density was approximated using the quadrats as guide. Plant Density was determined by counting the individuals in one fourth of the quadrat, then extrapolating to the rest of the area in question.Data was collected in late October in temperatures ranging between 10-17 degrees celcius. A large portion of the data was collected during cooler than seasonal temperature, and following rainfall which may contribute to the results. Insect abundance was determined without substantial disruption of the areas being surveyed. The areas surveyed may have been subjected to human interference and presence.
