VPRS 19567 Board of Management Minutes

This series contains minutes of the Hampton Rehabilitation Hospital (VA 1237) Board of Management. The Board met monthly. It was variously referred to as the Board of Management and the Committee of Management. The minute books and papers include minutes and reports from the Finance Committee (1964-1982), Annual Meetings of Contributors (1963-1991), House Committee (1966-1979), Executive Committee (1972-1973), Executive/Finance Committee (1975-1978 ), Building Committee (1975-1979) and others. The inaugural meeting was held on 10 March 1959. It was resolved that the name of the hospital should be ‘Hampton Hospital’. A new Provisional Committee was appointed by a Special Meeting of Contributors held on 18 April 1963. The Provisional Committee replaced the committee appointed by the Minister of Health at the inception of the Hospital in 1959. Many of that committee's members had been appointed to the Provisional Committee. At the 1983 Annual General Meeting of Contributors it was agreed that the hospital should change its name from ‘Hampton Hospital’ to ‘Hampton Rehabilitation Hospital’. The change was duly approved by the Health Commission and registered. The purpose of the name change was to properly reflect the specialised nature of the Hospital's operations and to avoid confusion as to its role.
