Numerically-generated interfaces of Newtonian jets in CIJ regime

The so-called Rayleigh-Plateau instability of fluid jets has been widely studied and is extensively used in the Continuous InkJet (CIJ) printing process. The present dataset contains the numerically generated interface of Newtonian fluid jet in CIJ jetting conditions for low to moderately high stimulation amplitudes. We used Basilisk, an opensource Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software specialized in multiphase flow to compute thousands of jets of fluids for Reynolds numbers ranging from 100 to 1000 and for stimulation amplitude ranging from 1% to 3.5%. The dataset gives raw data of CFD simulations fluid-air interfaces, for each Reynolds – stimulation amplitude pair.
射流的瑞利-普拉特不稳定性(Rayleigh-Plateau instability)已被广泛研究,并在连续喷墨(Continuous InkJet, CIJ)打印工艺中得到广泛应用。本数据集包含了CIJ喷墨工况下,低至中高激励振幅范围内的牛顿流体射流的数值生成气液界面。本研究采用专为多相流开发的开源计算流体动力学(Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD)软件Basilisk,针对雷诺数介于100至1000、激励振幅介于1%至3.5%的工况,完成了数千组流体射流的数值计算。本数据集为每一组雷诺数-激励振幅工况组合,提供了CFD模拟所得的气液界面原始数据。
