Mosquito midgut 20E response

Anopheles gambiae G3 strain mosquitoes (BEI Resources MRA-112) were either Blood fed, injected with 1 microgram of 20-hydroxyecdysone dissolved in 5 percent ethanol, 5 percent ethanol alone, or untreated. For each sample, groups of 30 midguts were dissected at 5 and 18 h post treatment and placed in Trizol. A single dissection was performed for the control. Total RNA was prepared and used for RNAsequencing. Sequencing li- braries were generated using an Illumina mRNA prep kit. Aedes aegypti Liverpool Strain (LVP-IB12 F25; BEI Resources MRA-735) were treated with 1 microgram of 20-hydroxyecdysone dissolved in PBS, PBS alone, or untreated. For each sample, groups of 30 midguts were dissected at 5 and 18 h post treatment and placed in Trizol. A single dissection was performed for the control. Total RNA was pre- pared and used for RNAsequencing. Sequencing libraries were generated using an Illumina mRNA prep kit.
