For the purposes of this study, cursorial denotes limb adaptations and behavior regarding high speed or sustained periods of terrestrial locomotion. Scansorial denotes limb adaptations and behavior regarding climbing, whereas natatorial describes limb adaptations and behavior regarding aquatic locomotion. Fossorial indicates limb adaptations and behavior regarding digging, either in search of food items or burrowing. As body mass can greatly vary with geographic location, the source locality for each species is listed with state/province in parentheses.
