Natura 2000 sites under the Birds Directive in Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur

Perimeter of Special Protection Areas (SPAs) belonging to the European Natura 2000 network The Natura 2000 network comprises 2 types of regulatory areas: special Protection Areas (SPAs) and Special Conservation Areas (SACs). SPAs are designated on the basis of the Inventory of Important Bird Conservation Areas (ICOAs) as defined by European Directive 79/409/EEC of 25 April 1979 on the conservation of wild birds. The designation of SPAs is a national decision, resulting in a ministerial order, without requiring a prior dialogue with the European Commission.
