Data of personality traits and safety attitudes in aviation maintenance

The study utilised a questionnaire divided into three sections: Demographic Information, Personality Traits, and Safety Attitudes.

1. Seven demographic questions were provided: Gender, Total length of work experience, Length of work experience in a current role, Type of license/authorisation, Maintenance approval, Supervisor/Team leader, and, current work area

2. The Big Five Inventory was used to assess personality traits. The Personality Traits section included 44 questions covering Extraversion (8 questions), Agreeableness (9 questions), Conscientiousness (9 questions), Neuroticism (8 questions), and Openness (10 questions).

3. The Safety Attitudes section comprised 34 questions categorised into four sub-groups: Understanding of job roles, Teamwork in Emergencies, Overall Importance of Effective Teamwork and Communication, and the Importance of Clear Communication within aviation Team.

Both personality traits and safety attitudes were assessed using a 5-point Likert scale (1: Disagree Strongly, 2: Disagree a Little, 3: Neither Agree nor Disagree, 4: Agree a Little, 5: Agree Strongly).
