Mapping Scalloped Terrains on Mars at the Meter Scale

Scalloped depressions are a kind of periglacial landform mostly distributed in mid-latitudes of Mars and characterized by rimless, shallow, flat-floored depression with a distinctive scalloped shape. Adjacent scalloped depressions may merge to form coalesced scalloped terrain with compound, scalloped edges. We mapped scalloped terrains across the northern hemisphere of Mars with the global CTX mosaic using a deep-learning semantic segmentation framework. The database contians the whole scalloped depressions and terrains in the northern hemisphere of Mars. Attribute tables are associated with the dataset, providing morphologic parameters of isolated scalloped depressions such as size, orientation, and elongation ratio.
